Welcome to Macphoto, Mackan’s photography weblog, or photoblog for short. My real name is Markus, but must people call me Mackan.
Although I am a huge fan of Apple and their excellent products and their taste of good design, the Mac-part of Macphoto has nothing to do with Apple or Machintosh. It’s just Mackan’s photoblog.
This site is the result of two of my main interests, photography and web site coding. Sometimes I work with the camera, and sometimes I’m stuck with the code. Anyway, my goal is to post my photos here on a fairly regular basis.
I live in the middle part of Sweden, in a mid-size town called Borlange, which is about 200 Km (125 miles) due north-west of Stockholm. Click here for a map at Google.
I’ve been interested in photography for many years. My first camera was a Canon EOS 500E, but it took me many years
until switching to digital. My first digital camera was the small Canon Digital IXUS 50 (known as PowerShot SD400 on the U.S. market), a great little pocket camera perfect for the rides on my motorcycle, and other occasions where a big SLR is out of question. But I quickly realized that I wanted something more, and I bought a Canon EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT, and used it with my EF 17-40 f/4L USM lense. This is the camera I still use today, now with many additional lenses and filters.
Update: The 350 is sold, now I got a 5D instead.
The first year Macphoto was powered by Movable Type, with custom templates and various tweaks. Later, I switched to the WordPress blogging platform. The site used to run on a small private server located in my closet. But it’s now hosted with a large provider in Sweden. If something is broken, it’s probably because I’m fiddeling with the code! ;-)
All modern standard compliant browsers should work. While working with the design, I test it with the latest versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox. I do try to make it compatible with Internet Explorer, but it’s sometimes impossible. Please upgrade your browser if you still use IE6 or IE7.

Just like any photo entry in this blog, this page also has a comment system. Feel free to post any question you may have!
